The Bermuda Government used World Homeless Day, observed globally each year on October 10, to spotlight its Plan to End Homelessness and the accompanying National Homelessness Action Plan 2025–2028, a multi-year framework aimed at ensuring every resident has access to safe and secure housing.

The strategy centres on prevention as a first line of defence, seeking to intervene before individuals and families lose their homes. It also calls for expanded housing support services and stronger coordination among government agencies and community partners working with vulnerable populations across the island.

A Government spokesperson noted that World Homeless Day serves as an international reminder of the challenges faced by those without stable accommodation, and said Bermuda's action plan reflects a commitment to addressing the issue through practical, measurable steps over the next several years.

Homelessness advocates in Bermuda have long pressed for a coordinated national response, pointing to rising living costs and limited affordable housing stock as key pressures on low-income households. Officials say the 2025–2028 plan is designed to tackle those root causes while improving outreach, emergency shelter provision and pathways into permanent accommodation. The Government is expected to report on progress as the action plan is rolled out over the coming years.
