Three promising teenage tennis players from Bermuda – Lee Terceira, Tristan Thompson and Rylie Maybury – set out from Hamilton this week to compete in the Miami qualifier of the U.S. Play‑off Series Junior Orange Bowl Master Event. The trio will face some of the country’s best young talent in a field that includes future collegiate stars.

Terceira, 16, advanced to the semifinals in her debut match, then continued to impress with a powerful baseline game and quick court coverage. Thompson, 15, showcased a solid serve‑and‑volley approach, while Maybury, 14, demonstrated tactical awareness and a resilient fighting spirit.

The Bermuda Tennis Association confirmed the players’ participation and highlighted the importance of international competition for the athletes’ development. “Exposure to high‑level play is essential for our juniors’ growth, and we’re proud of their achievements,” the association said.

The qualifiers will run until the end of the month, with the top performers earning spots in the Orange Bowl’s main draw. The event offers a springboard for future scholarships and professional opportunities, and Bermuda’s young players are eager to represent their island on a larger stage.
