Megan Hands and Natalie Gazzard took to the sand in San Salvador on Sunday as part of the NORCECA Under‑23 Beach Volleyball Continental Tour, representing Bermuda on the international stage. The pair entered Pool D at the Flor Blanca Beach Volleyball Stadium, where they were drawn against Guatemala’s Daphne Mendoza and Marisabel González.

Hands and Gazzard were unable to secure a win in their opening match, falling 21‑17, 21‑11. While the scoreline reflected a tough start, officials noted that the Bermudian duo displayed resilience and good teamwork under pressure. The loss, however, highlights the competitive depth of the region’s emerging beach volleyball talent.

The participation of Bermuda’s athletes in the tour underscores the country’s growing commitment to supporting young sportspersons abroad. The Bermuda Sports Association has been working to provide training and travel opportunities for U23 athletes, and this event is seen as a valuable stepping‑stone for future international success.

Hands and Gazzard will return to the courts for their next match later in the day, aiming to build on the experience and represent Bermuda with pride in the upcoming rounds of the tournament.
