A longstanding fixture on Bermuda's charitable running calendar returns next month, as the fourteenth AXA XL Man on the Run 5K takes place at Warwick Academy on Sunday, November 8. The event raises funds for men's cancer initiatives on the island and continues its push to get more Bermudian men talking openly about their health.

Organiser Clifford Roberts said the idea for the run grew out of watching how readily women discuss health matters with one another, and recognising that men were far less likely to do the same. He hopes the annual gathering encourages husbands, fathers and sons across the island to break that silence, seek check-ups and support one another through illness.

Over its fourteen-year history, the event has drawn runners and walkers of all ages and abilities, with proceeds directed toward local programmes supporting men affected by cancer. Organisers say the funds raised have made a meaningful difference to patients and families navigating diagnosis and treatment in Bermuda.

Registration details for the 5K are available through the event's usual channels, and participants of all fitness levels are welcome, whether running competitively or walking in support of the cause. Roberts is urging the community to turn out in numbers once again, noting that every entry helps sustain vital cancer support services while sending a message that men's health deserves the same open conversation as any other issue facing island families.
