Derek Dershem, a Hamilton‑based tech entrepreneur, announced the launch of a new venture aimed at providing formal credentials for artificial‑intelligence agents. The company, named CredentialAI, will develop a framework to assess and certify AI systems on safety, transparency and ethical use.
CredentialAI’s certification process will involve rigorous testing and independent audits, with certificates issued to developers and organisations that meet the platform’s standards. The aim is to build trust in AI deployments across industries such as finance, healthcare and logistics – sectors where Bermuda already hosts a growing community of tech start‑ups.
The move comes at a time when Bermuda’s regulatory bodies are increasingly focusing on digital innovation. By offering a local certification service, CredentialAI could become a key partner for firms looking to demonstrate compliance with the island’s emerging data‑protection and cyber‑security guidelines. The company also plans to collaborate with the Bermuda Institute of Technology, providing students with hands‑on experience in AI governance.
Dershem said the venture will create up to 15 technical roles over the next two years, supporting the island’s goal of expanding its tech‑centric economy. “We want Bermuda to be a hub not just for building AI, but for making sure it does so responsibly,” he added. The company plans to launch its first certification cycle by the end of the year.
