Hamilton’s CedarBridge intersection will soon feature a new set of speed bumps, this time finished in a bright pink hue to catch residents’ eyes and reduce speeding. The City of Hamilton approved the color change in a meeting held last month, citing local feedback that a more visible, cheerful design would encourage drivers to slow down.

The speed bumps, installed by the Highway Authority, are positioned on the north‑bound lane of CedarBridge Road where frequent traffic incidents have been reported. Engineers say the pink paint will improve visibility in low‑light conditions and make the bumps harder to miss on busy weekdays. Construction work began over the weekend and is expected to be completed by the end of the month.

Local community groups welcomed the decision, noting that the color choice reflects Bermuda’s vibrant culture. "The pink bumps add a splash of color to an otherwise utilitarian feature," said Marina Duarte, chair of the Hamilton Residents Association. "They’re a subtle reminder for drivers to keep a safe pace, especially near the nearby schools and playgrounds.

City officials urge motorists to drive cautiously through the new installation and will monitor traffic patterns afterwards to assess the impact on safety. The pink speed bumps at CedarBridge are part of a broader effort to improve road safety across the island while maintaining a welcoming aesthetic for residents and visitors alike.
