Motorists and shoppers heading into Hamilton should prepare for disruption along Reid Street, as the City of Hamilton has confirmed resurfacing works will be carried out on the parking lanes of both sides of the road between Burnaby Street and Queen Street over two consecutive weeks.

According to the City, the project will be split into two phases, with crews first tackling the northern side of the street before moving to the southern side. The phased approach is intended to keep traffic flowing through one of the capital's busiest commercial corridors while the work is completed.

Businesses along the affected stretch are being advised of the schedule, and members of the public are urged to plan accordingly, as on-street parking in the work zones will be temporarily unavailable during each phase. Drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time, follow posted signage and consider alternative parking options, including nearby car parks, while the resurfacing is underway.

The works form part of the City's ongoing efforts to maintain road infrastructure in the capital. Officials have apologised in advance for any inconvenience caused and thanked residents, commuters and merchants for their patience and cooperation. Further updates on the precise timing of each phase are expected to be issued by the City of Hamilton as the programme gets underway.
