Four talented gymnasts from Bermuda will represent the island at the upcoming Carifta Gymnastics Championships, marking a historic moment for the sport in the territory. The athletes—Ariel Smith, Kayla Jones, Lillian Thomas and Ethan Reyes—were selected by the Bermuda Gymnastics Association after a rigorous trial held at the National Sports Centre.
Smith, a senior at Hamilton Academy, will compete in the all‑around division, while Jones and Thomas will contend in the junior categories. Reyes, a rising star from St. George’s School, will participate in the women's vault and floor events. Each gymnast has earned multiple national titles and has trained under Coach Michael Brown, who has guided Bermuda athletes to international success.
"We are proud to see our young gymnasts reach a platform that showcases their hard work and dedication," said Association Chairwoman, Dr. Emily Harrison. "Their presence at Carifta will inspire the next generation of Bermudian athletes and raise the profile of gymnastics on the island."
The Carifta Championships, scheduled for 12–15 March in Kingston, Jamaica, will feature competitors from across the Caribbean. The Bermuda team will travel with support staff and will be welcomed by the city’s tourism board, which hopes to attract more visitors to the region during the event.
The Bermuda Gymnastics Association plans to provide post‑competition workshops to share the athletes’ experiences with local schools, aiming to expand participation and investment in the sport back home.
