Bermuda will welcome its first international tennis competition this summer, a milestone that could boost the island’s sporting profile and tourism sector. The event, organised by the Bermuda Tennis Association in partnership with the International Tennis Federation, will take place from June 15 to 21 at the National Tennis Centre in Hamilton.

The six‑day tournament will feature a mixed‑doubles draw of 32 teams, including teams from the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and the Caribbean. Local players will have the chance to compete as alternates, while the main draw will attract players ranked within the top 200 worldwide. The Association notes that the event will provide the island with a platform to showcase its state‑of‑the‑art facilities and hospitality.

Officials say the tournament is expected to draw over 5,000 visitors, creating opportunities for hotels, restaurants and retail outlets. The Bermuda Tourism Authority has highlighted the potential for increased media exposure and a boost to the island’s image as a premium sporting destination.

The Association will also run a series of community clinics in the lead‑up to the tournament, aimed at encouraging local participation and nurturing future Bermuda talent. Officials hope the success of this inaugural event will lay the groundwork for a recurring international tennis fixture on the island.
