Hamilton, Bermuda – The island’s residents lost a beloved figure on Thursday when Albert Trott, 82, passed away at St. George’s Hospital after a brief illness. Trott, a lifelong resident of the St. George’s Parish, was known for his dedication to local charities, his entrepreneurial spirit and his unwavering support of the Bermuda Amateur Sports Association.

A former manager of the island’s historic Harbour Café, Trott helped revitalize the waterfront during the 1990s, turning the once‑blighted stretch into a family‑friendly gathering place. In addition to his business pursuits, he served on the Hamilton City Council for six years, championing affordable housing and green‑space initiatives that benefitted generations of Bermudians.

Friends, family and community leaders said Trott’s calm presence and warm humour were a source of comfort during times of crisis. Colleagues at the Harbour Café recalled his meticulous attention to detail and his willingness to mentor young entrepreneurs.

Trott’s funeral will be held at St. George’s Parish Church on Friday, with a memorial service scheduled for Saturday at the Hamilton City Hall. The family requests donations to the Hamilton Community Fund in his memory.

The loss of Albert Trott is felt across Bermuda’s social and economic landscape, reminding us of the impact one devoted individual can have on a small island community.
