Age Concern Bermuda and local tech firm Connectech Coding have teamed up to launch a new Digital Confidence Series aimed at helping adults aged 50 and over become comfortable with everyday mobile technology.
The first cohort of workshops, titled "Device Basics," starts this week at the Hamilton Community Centre. Participants will receive hands‑on instruction on setting up and using smartphones and tablets, as well as guidance on downloading essential apps and keeping devices secure.
"Our goal is to bridge the digital gap that many of our older residents face," said a spokesperson for Age Concern. "By providing practical, step‑by‑step training, we hope to empower seniors to stay connected with family, access health services online, and enjoy the convenience of modern communication tools.
Connectech Coding will also offer follow‑up support through a dedicated helpline and scheduled refresher sessions, ensuring that learners can continue to build confidence in a supportive environment.
Registration for the Digital Confidence Series is open to all residents of Bermuda over 50, with slots available at the main community centre and other local venues. The programme is free of charge, making it an accessible resource for the island’s senior population.
