The historic Port Royal course will welcome the full field of the 2026 Butterfield Bermuda Championship, a key event on the World Golf Championships schedule, according to the tournament’s official release. The competition will take place from 12‑15 March on the island’s oldest golf course, drawing 48 of the world’s top players to battle for a purse that will benefit the local community.
Organisers announced that the 2026 edition will feature a 72‑hole stroke‑play format, with the first two rounds held on Saturday and the final two on Sunday. Players will navigate Port Royal’s signature water hazards and sandy dunes, a course that has hosted international tournaments for more than a century. In addition to the main event, a pro‑am and a charity challenge will run concurrently, offering local amateurs a chance to play alongside professionals.
The tournament’s organisers say the influx of visitors will support local hotels, restaurants and retail outlets. “We expect roughly 2,000 visitors during the week, many of whom will stay in the downtown area,” explained Port Royal Community Manager, Lillian Carter. “The event provides a boost to small‑business owners and helps showcase Bermuda’s hospitality to a global audience.”
Butterfield, the title sponsor, highlighted the partnership’s commitment to community outreach. “Our goal is to give back to the places that host us,” said Butterfield CEO, James L. Harris. “By funding the local charity challenge, we’re ensuring that the championship’s benefits extend beyond the greens.”
