Around 200 art enthusiasts turned out in Hamilton on Friday evening as the Bermuda National Gallery opened its doors for an exclusive Members' Preview of the 2026 Bermuda Biennial.
Guests at the September 25 event were treated to a first look at the island's premier contemporary art exhibition, which showcases work by Bermuda-based artists and those with ties to the island. Adding a distinctly local flavour to the evening, attendees sipped a custom cocktail created by Goslings, with the signature drink inspired by one of the pieces on display.
The Biennial, a long-standing fixture of the island's cultural calendar, serves as an important platform for Bermudian artists, offering them exposure to both local audiences and visiting curators. The exhibition typically features a diverse range of media, from painting and sculpture to photography and mixed-media installations.
The Members' Preview gave gallery supporters an early opportunity to view the works before the exhibition opens to the wider public. The Bermuda National Gallery, located in City Hall in the heart of Hamilton, continues to play a central role in promoting visual arts on the island through its exhibitions, education programmes and community events.
The 2026 Bermuda Biennial will remain on view at the gallery in the coming months, with admission details available through the gallery's website.
