Bermuda-based graduates of the University of Bristol came together on September 30 at The Botanist Café & Garden Lounge to mark the university's sesquicentennial, taking part in a coordinated series of alumni events staged across the globe.

The local gathering formed part of the institution's Global Gatherings programme, an initiative designed to connect former students in cities around the world as the university celebrates a century and a half since its founding. The Bermuda event was organised and hosted by Tammy Richardson-Augustus, who earned her Bachelor of Laws with honours from Bristol in 1996.

Attendees spanned a wide range of graduating classes, offering a cross-generational snapshot of the island's ties to the British university. Alumni used the occasion to renew old friendships, share memories of their time in England's southwest, and reflect on how their studies shaped their careers back home in Bermuda and beyond.

The University of Bristol, founded in 1876, has long attracted Bermudian students, particularly in fields such as law, medicine and the sciences. Organisers said the island's participation in the anniversary programme underscored the enduring connection between Bermuda and the institution, and expressed hope that the gathering would become a regular fixture for the local alumni community in the years ahead.
